Department of Foreigners and Migration
RNE
The Immigration Chile Department through the International Organization for Migration was working with very old software to receive and process foreigners. This system was built with obsolete technology that did not allow the new functionalities updates, leading to a system collapse due to the migration crisis.
The main challenge was to unify the two sources of information on which the client worked (SIMPLE and B3000), both old software with large and very complex systems.
On the other hand, a query module was developed in parallel, with the operation of the old systems, which generated a major problem considering that new documentation was constantly being uploaded.
This project began through a closed bidding process, where we were awarded two stages, which consisted of the creation and improvement of the consultation module.
Once the project requirements were gathered, a solution was designed with the necessary views. Then we started the development of features under the Scrum methodology, allowing the client to test the functionalities and fix possible bugs.
The developed platform rescues information from both B3000 and SIMPLE applications, optimizing the work of the immigration personnel. The value generated in this project started to become visible, since many officers dispensed with the old technologies. It is also a more intuitive platform, which optimizes staff management. Finally, this solution allows foreigners to carry out their procedures online faster and more easily.
